The following South West UK clinical hypnotherapists can attend:
BSCH registered / LCCH trained beyond introductory CPPD level. Such as PGCert, Practitioner or Medical diploma students and beyond. Attendance Fee: Minimal room hire cost is divided equally (currently no more than £5 per person per meeting unless otherwise stated.)
Therapists trained by other colleges and members of other hypnotherapy professional bodies: Permission to attend the next 12 month’s meetings is secured by email, preferably with recommendation from a BSCH/LCCH attender. Thereafter, annual extension is assumed unless concerns have been raised about clinical standards or positive intent at meetings. Attendance Fee: As above plus £2 non-profit contribution to future meetings / events for the benefit of the group. This fee safeguards that non LCCH or BSCH members are regarded as contributors enriching the quality of meetings.
The journey begins with an email to express interest.
Stay informed: If you satisfy criteria for attendance and would like to stay aware about future meetings, please email. Automatic updates are available via ChenaraHypno on Twitter or ’liking’ the Facebook Chenara Hypnotherapy, Taunton Page. Lately, LCCH newsletters have also featured information about the groups.

Referral policy Patients may be guided to Chenara Hypnotherapy’s clinically reliable sessions by healthcarers and members of other professional bodies. Where patient consent is given, appropriate professionals can be updated, observing all usual confidentiality and ethical boundaries. However, Chenara Hypnotherapy is not currently part of the NHS referral system. Patients are very welcome to contact us directly.
GP contact — when and why GPs may sometimes, with patient permission, be contacted for verification that certain psychological and physiological problems have been ruled out before proceeding with hypnotherapy. This is done in the interest of patient safety. For instance, although hypnotherapy can minimise pain, the pain may be a sign that medical investigation is required. Upon confirmation that investigations have already taken place and psychogenic origins are likely, hypnotherapy would likely proceed.
Contraindications Hypnotherapy is a very safe therapy, but as with any intervention certain contraindications apply. Chenara Hypnotherapy does not treat patients diagnosed with any form of psychoses (including bipolar disorder) or epilepsy. This is because hypnosis often usefully intensifies or creates dissociative states, and stimulates changes in brain wave activity which may, in very rare instances, trigger a seizure. GPs will be contacted if these are suspected, in order to identify whether such has ever been diagnosed.
